Mediator Tanu Mehta

Tanu is a Senior Mediator, and Chairperson of the Mediation and Conciliation Committee, BCC.

Tanu believes not all conflicts can be resolved by Law, but they still need to be resolved. As a dispute resolution professional, her aim is to help resolve conflicts by building consensus amongst conflicting parties, through a calibrated dialogue process in an open and creative atmosphere.

Insightful and passionate about justice for all, Tanu is a tireless proponent of Mediation for industry bodies, and in grassroots and community-related dispute resolution.

  • Tanu is a legal professional, Mediator, and conflict resolution specialist with over 25 years of experience.

  • Over the last 10 years, Tanu has been consulting with various organizations and institutions as an independent Mediator and Conciliator, and handling Mediation case referrals from various Courts in India.

  • Tanu’s Mediation and Conflict Resolution experience includes resolving disputes around Public Policy, workplace matters, divorce issues, community matters, Mortgage and Loan repayment, Co-operative Housing Societies, Employment, Environmental Conflict, Domestic and Family relations, and Minor criminal offenses.

  • Tanu has also been a Retaining Counsel / Legal Advisor to the Bombay Environmental Action Group (BEAG; 1996-2002), Sahara Aamby Valley (2010), J. M. Baxi Group (2013 – 2018), and CBFC (2017 - Jan 2018).

  • She is currently also the Honorary Chairperson of the Committee for Mediation and Conciliation at the Bombay Chamber of Commerce at Mumbai.

  • Tanu was instrumental in launching India’s first M.A. in Mediation and Conflict Resolution, when she was the Director of the Centre for Mediation and Research, at the Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU), between 2019 to 2022.

  • Visiting faculty for ‘Mediation Certification’ at the Pravin Gandhi Law College.

  • Resource Person for Mediation Training at the KC Law College, Mumbai.

  • Resource Person for ILS Law College, Pune.
